UW wrestling team falls to Purdue at home
Wisconsin Sports-- The No. 6 ranked University of Wisconsin wrestling team dropped its third straight dual meet 18-16 to No. 24 Purdue at the UW Field House Sunday.
MADISON - The No. 6 ranked University of Wisconsin wrestling team dropped its third straight dual meet 18-16 to No. 24 Purdue at the UW Field House Sunday.
The Badgers lost five of the first seven matches and trailed 18-7. UW won the next three in the upper weights but their effort fell short in the team score. UW also continued to give up big wins as the Boilermakers scored a pinfall at 125 pounds.
Winning for Wisconsin were Tyler Graff at 133, Cole Schmitt, who returned to the line-up for the first time since the National Duals, at 149; Travis Rutt at 184, River Falls' Trevor Brandvold at 197 and Eric Bugenhagen at heavyweight.
Wisconsin drops to 9-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Big Ten. They wrestle at No. 17 Northwestern on Friday and return home Sunday to face Ohio State at 1 p.m.
