Vikings' Williams named NFL's Man of the Year
Minnesota Sports-- Minnesota Vikings safety Madieu Williams was named the 2010 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year during Sunday's Super Bowl pregame festivities.
DALLAS - Minnesota Vikings safety Madieu Williams was named the 2010 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year during Sunday's Super Bowl pregame festivities.
The award, given by the NFL since 1970 but renamed in 1999 to honor the deceased Chicago running back, recognizes a player for his community service activities as well as his excellence on the field.
Williams was singled out for the philanthropic efforts that he does in support of his native Sierra Leone. Williams is the second Viking to win the award along with wide receiver Cris Carter, who won in 1999 Williams is currently in the Persian Gulf visiting U.S. service members. He will receive $20-thousand toward his favorite charity.
