NFL wins appeals court case against Williamses

Minnesota Sports
-- The NFL may have finally won its long-fought battle with Vikings defensive tackles Kevin and Pat Williams.

ST. PAUL - The NFL may have finally won its long-fought battle with Vikings defensive tackles Kevin and Pat Williams.

The Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled on Tuesday that there is no legal reason to grant the two players relief from their NFL suspensions for violating the league's anti-doping policy. In December 2008, both players were given four-game suspensions for using a product that contained a possible masking agent for steroids. Both players said the label for the over-the-counter supplement StarCaps did not indicate that bumetanide, the banned substance, was present in the product.

Up to this point, the Williamses have had success fighting their suspensions and could appeal this latest decision to the Minnesota Supreme Court.
