Gopher men's hoops snaps losing streak with win at Iowa, women lose
Minnesota Sports-- The University of Minnesota's basketball teams split their Sunday Big Ten contests.
IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Minnesota Mens basketball team ended their 4 game losing streak yesterday with a 62-45 win over Iowa in Iowa City.
The Gophers were led by Junior forward Trevor Mbakwe and his 24 points and Sophomore forward Rodney Williams who scored 13 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 5 assists.
The win brings the Gophers record to 17-8 overall and 6-7 in the Big Ten. Next up for the Gophers is another road game, they head to Happy Valley to take on Penn State on Thursday.

(Minneapolis, MN) -- The University of Minnesota women's basketball team lost at home yesterday to Ohio State 83-76. The loss drops the Gophers to 3-9 in the Big Ten and 11-14 overall.
The Gophers were led in scoring by Kiara Buford who finished with 23 points. Ohio State's All American Jantel Lavender led all scorers with 29 points to become Ohio State's leading scorer passing former Minnesota Lynx Guard Katie Smith. Lavender now has 2,587 career points. Next up for the Gophers is Thursday night when Purdue comes to Williams Arena.
