The Plum City High School girls basketball team lost to Glenwood City Thursday at home but the margin of defeat, 40-32, suggest the Blue Devils aren't far away from their first win.
The Blue Devils had difficulty solving visiting Glenwood City's half-court , but they still had chances to come back in the fourth quarter, Plum City coach Jason Glampe said.
Tiffany Clare, Tessa Winkler and Heather Von Holtum each tallied six points for the Blue Devils (0-15 overall, 0-12 Dunn-St. Croix).
Plum City plays host Monday to Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran. The Lancers are below .500 at 6-10, so PC will have a chance to win before embarking on a tough stretch of schedule which has them playing No. 13 ranked Mondovi, Elk Mound and No. 5 Colfax all in a row before closing with Spring Valley.
In other Dunn-St, Croix girls action from Thursday, Spring Valley played Boyceville close for three quarter at Spring Valley until a 9-0 run in the fourth broke the game wide open and led to a 47-26 win. Leah Jameson had nine points for the Cardinals. No. 5 Colfax stayed undefeated with a 69-32 win at Elmwood. After score was tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Vikings outscored the Raiders 19-7 in the second quarter and 27-9 i the third. Ali Pax led Elmwood with nine points.
