U dominated second period leads them to 5-2 win over UW

-- The University of Minnesota men's hockey team scored three goals in the second period to lead to a 5-2 win over Wisconsin in the Kohl Center, snapping the Badgers home winning streak.

MADISON - The University of Minnesota men's hockey team scored three goals in the second period to lead to a 5-2 win over Wisconsin in the Kohl Center, snapping the Badgers home winning streak.

Taylor Matson had two of those goals as the Golden Gophers connected on three of their six power play opportunities while UW went 2-for-10. Jake Cepis and Patrick White and Mike Hoeffel all had a goal and an assist for the Gophers.

Jake Gardner and Jordy Murry had Wisconsin's lone goals. Gardner's goal tied the score at 1-1 before the U tallied four unanswered goals in the second and third period.

Minnesota has won two straight to go over .500 at 13-12-4 overall and 10-10-3 in the WCHA, The Badgers have now lost three straight to drop to 19-11-3 and 11-10-2 in the league.
