Gamel looking for place in Brewers' line-up
Wisconsin Sports-- Everywhere Matt Gamel can play, the Milwaukee Brewers have a solid starter in place.
PHOENIX - Everywhere Matt Gamel can play, the Milwaukee Brewers have a solid starter in place.
He's going to have to move around to get his plate appearances. Gamel is working out at first and third bases, plus both corner outfield spots.
Manager Ron Roenicke says Gamel's bat is so good he'll need to be in the Milwaukee lineup. His first exposure to major league pitching produced modest results - a .242 batting average, with 5 home runs and 20 runs batted in. He struck out a startling 54 times in 128 at bats. But, Gamel has a minor league history of putting up good numbers. He just has to find a place to play in the field for a Brewer team that figures to be pretty strong.
