Wisconsin Sports-- For the fourth time in school history, the Wisconsin women's hockey team has won 30 games. Hat tricks by Hilary Knight and Madison Packer powered the Badgers to a 9-1 rout of Minnesota State Saturday afternoon.
MANKATO, Minn. - For the fourth time in school history, the Wisconsin women's hockey team has won 30 games. Hat tricks by Hilary Knight and Madison Packer powered the Badgers to a 9-1 rout of Minnesota State Saturday afternoon.
Brianna Decker added three assists for the Badgers, who now have a record of 30-2-2. Senior Meghan Duggan had two goals and two assists, joining Knight as the only two Badgers in the history of the program to score 100 goals. Sophomore Becca Ruegsegger got the victory, stopping 11 shots. Wisconsin dominated play, outshooting Minnesota State 40-11.

Buffalo couldn't miss all night, hitting more than 59 percent of its shots in an 80-65 win over Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The loss ended a seven-game winning streak for the Panthers who now hold a 16-12 record. It was a non-conference game against the Bulls who were good on 8-of-14 shots from beyond the three-point line. Anthony Hill scored 19 points for the Panthers, while Tone Boyle added 16. Milwaukee plays at first-place Cleveland State in a Horizon League game Thursday night.

A lay up for Southern Illinois with one second left gave the Salukis a 61-60 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay. Rahmon Fletcher scored 22 to lead the Phoenix in the losing effort. The game was a non-conference, BracketBuster contest. A lay up by Bryquis Perine had put the Phoenix ahead by a point with 24 seconds left. Green Bay got a defensive stop, but missed a crucial free throw to give SIU the opportunity to pull off the win. Green Bay's record drops to 12-16.

Trailing by three games, with only five games left, the University of Wisconsin men's basketball team will need some help to claim even a share of the Big Ten Conference basketball title. It starts with a home game against Penn State today at 5 p.m. Of its five regular season games remaining, only Ohio State has a winning conference record. Wednesday's loss to Purdue put Wisconsin in a bad position, but neither the players nor their coach are giving up. The Badgers are hoping Purdue can upset Ohio State this afternoon, just like the Boilermakers upset Wisconsin last week. As long as they don't collapse in the last five games the Badgers should get at least the third-seed position in the conference tournament next month in Indianapolis.

If you want to watch a Super Bowl winner, you're going to have to dig a little deeper. The Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers say they are hiking ticket prices on stadium bowl seats for next season. The price jump ranges from two to four dollars, depending on the section. Season tickets between the 20 yard lines will jump to 87 dollars each. End zone seats go up just two dollars. The team says the increase keeps the Packers at the league average for ticket prices. A letter from team President Mark Murphy went out to season ticket holders, explaining the price hike and just what would happen if the labor situation impacts the start of the season.
