Brandon Green gets extra season to play football for U

-- University of Minnesota wide receiver Brandon Green of Chicago has been granted an additional year of college eligibility after playing in only two games this past season.

MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota wide receiver Brandon Green of Chicago has been granted an additional year of college eligibility after playing in only two games this past season.

An injury forced him to sit out the most of the season. Green will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Green has 42 career catches for 599 yards and two touchdowns. He was a highly-touted high school recruit when he arrived on campus.

Former Gopher football player John Nance of St. Paul has won the MIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor for his efforts in helping St. Thomas to the MIAC Tournament title. Nance began his college career as a football player at Minnesota before transferring to St. Thomas to play basketball. He prepped at Cretin-Derham Hall.
