Taylor scores 39 in Badgers win at Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Jordan Taylor scored a career-high 39 points last night, as the Wisconsin men’s basketball team won at Indiana 77-67.

Taylor scored 12 straight points for the Badgers in the first half, and 17 straight in the second half. He made seven-of-eight three-pointers and all 10 of his free throws. And the junior guard tied Rick Olson for the second-highest individual scoring performance in Wisconsin history, behind Michael Finley and Ken Barnes who both had 42-point nights.

The 10th-ranked Badgers had a comfortable 13-point lead with 6:19 to play. But Indiana went on an 8-2 run. And the Badgers held on during the final two minutes with the help of Jon Leuer, who had six of his 10 points down the stretch.

Verdell Jones III scored 18 points for Indiana, which lost its seventh straight game. The Hoosiers fell to 3-14 in the Big Ten, and 12-18 overall.

Wisconsin improved 13-4 in the conference and 23-6 overall. They’re within a game of second-place Purdue, and they’ll close out the regular season on Sunday afternoon at first-place Ohio State. The Buckeyes have clinched at least a share of the season title.
