State Team Wrestling tournament begins tonight

MADISON - Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln will go for its eighth Division-One title in nine years, when the state high school team wrestling tournament begins tonight in Madison.

The Red Raiders have won the last two crowns. And they’re 24-1 as they get ready to face Hartford this evening in the Division-One quarter-finals at the UW Field House.

The other quarter-finals will take place at the same time on different mats. Hartland Arrowhead goes against Kenosha Tremper. Mukwonago takes on Franklin. And Hudson goes against Holmen. Tonight’s winners will advance to the semi-finals tomorrow.

A new champion will be crowned in Division-Two because Oconto Falls didn’t make it back-to-state. Ellsworth wrestles Lodi in tomorrow afternoon's semi-finals and Luxemburg-Casco faces Campbellsport. Semi-finals will also be held tomorrow in Division-Three. Defending champion Coleman wrestles Oostburg. And Clear Lake goes against Mineral Point, which is going for its fourth championship in five years.

Final matches in all three divisions will be held tomorrow night starting at 6 p.m.
