Jackson and Vikings decide to part ways
Minnesota Sports-- The Minnesota Vikings and Tavaris Jackson are parting ways after five NFL seasons. The team declined to offer the quarterback a restricted free-agent tender. That means T-Jack is free to leave the Vikings when - and if - a new collective bargaining agreement is in place.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - The Minnesota Vikings and Tavaris Jackson are parting ways after five NFL seasons. The team declined to offer the quarterback a restricted free-agent tender. That means T-Jack is free to leave the Vikings when - and if - a new collective bargaining agreement is in place.
The NFL and players' association agreed to a 24-hour extension of the current CBA until 12 a-m Saturday. A federal mediator is expected to ask both sides to consider another extension today so negotiations can continue.
The Vikings did sign defensive end Brian Robison to a three-year, 14-million-dollar deal late Thursday. Minnesota also offered tenders to safeties Husain Abdullah and Eric Frampton; defensive end Ray Edwards; offensive lineman Ryan Cook and wide receiver Sidney Rice.
