UW women's hockey plays in WCHA finals, men lose again

-- The University of Wisconsin women's hockey team will play in the finals of the WCHA tournament today against Minnesota after shutting out North Dakota Friday 3-0. The men, however, continued their losing streak with a 3-2 loss to Colorado College.

MINNEAPOLIS - Seniors Kelly Nash and Mallory Deluce did the damage as the Wisconsin women's hockey team blanked North Dakota Friday, 3-0.

The No. 1 ranked Badgers won their 33rd game to go with two losses and two ties. Nash and Deluce had two points apiece in the win. Deluce had a goal and an assist, while Nash had two assists. Freshman Alex Rigsby completed the seventh shutout of her young career. Junior Carolyne Prevost put Wisconsin on the board first in the second period. The teams had been scoreless until then. Brianna Decker had Wisconsin's other goal.

Colorado College's 3-2 win over Wisconsin clinched home ice for the Tigers in the WCHA playoffs. The Badgers haven't had a win in their last seven games. Jake Gardiner and Patrick Johnson scored goals to give Wisconsin a 2-1 lead early in the final period. The Badgers couldn't hold the lead. Wisconsin's record falls to 19-14-4, including 11-14-3 in conference play. David Civitarese had the game-winning goal for Colorado College at 17:05 of the third period.
