Gopher women to play in WCHA final, men tie Bemidji State
Minnesota Sports-- The University of Minnesota women's hockey team defeated the University of Minnesota-Duluth Friday in the semifinals of the WCHA playoffs at Ridder Arena. The men's team tied Bemidji State 3-3.
MINNEAPOLOIS - The University of Minnesota women's hockey team scored three unanswered goals to beat Minnesota-Duluth 4-2 in the semifinals of the WCHA playoffs at Ridder Arena.
Amanda Kessel had a hat trick with three goals and teammate Sarah Erickson had two assists. Gopher goalie Noora Raty made 32 saves.
The No. 3 Gophers play No. 1 Wisconsin in the finals Saturday.

The University of Minnesota's men's team played to a 3-3 tie with Bemidji State Friday at the Sanford Center.
Nick Bjugstad's goal in the second period tie the score at 2-2. The U went ahead 3-2 on Patrick White's second goal of the game but the Beavers' Brad Hunt scored at the 19:41 mark of the third period for the tie, the goal came on a power play.
Gopher goalie Kent Patterson made 33 saves. Despite the tie, the Gophers secured home ice for the WCHA playoffs.
