Minnesota State men's hoops makes NCAA D-II Elite Eight
Minnesota Sports-- Minnesota State-Mankato has advanced to the NCAA Division II men's basketball Elite Eight next week.
MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota State-Mankato has advanced to the NCAA Division II men's basketball Elite Eight next week.
The Mavericks earned the trip to the prestigious event by beating Fort Lewis College 81-63 last night in Mankato in a Sweet 16 game. MSU senior Jefferson Mason of Crystal scored 26 points and snatched 17 rebounds to lead the Mavericks, who will be going to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.
Head coach Matt Morganthaler says this is the biggest win in school history. MSU will play Alabama-Huntsville next Wednesday in Springfield, Massachusetts.
