Bruesewitz looks to play for UW in NCAA opener

TUSCON, Ariz. - University of Wisconsin forward Mike Bruesewitz hopes he can play tonight against Belmont in their NCAA Tournament opener at the university of Arizona's McKale Center.

Bruesewitz took part in a shoot-around yesterday, after he sprained his right knee in the Badgers’ loss to Penn State last Friday in the Big Ten tourney. It’s still not certain how long he could play against Bruins – if at all. He says it will be up to the trainers, and how he feels at game-time. Bruesewitz was injured when Jeff Brooks of Penn State stepped on one of his feet. He said it felt funny at the time, but it didn’t hurt.

Bruesewitz started 13 games for Wisconsin this season. But he’s mainly been a backup who averages four points and three rebounds per game. He’s considered one of the most physical Badgers inside. Wisconsin is 23-8, and will face a Belmont team that’s 30-4. The winner advances to the next round of the Southeast Regional on Saturday.
