NCAA Division I wrestling championships wrap-up

University of Wisconsin and Minnesota wrestlers competed for their final places in the 2011 NCAA Division 1 National Wrestling Tournament Saturday.

PHILADELPHIA - University of Wisconsin and Minnesota wrestlers competed for their final places in the 2011 NCAA Division 1 National Wrestling Tournament Saturday.

The Badgers had four All-Americans led by a third place finish for Andrew Howe at 165 pounds, a fourth for River Falls' Trevor Brandvold at 197, a fifth for Tyler Graff at 133 and a seventh for Travis Rutt at 184 as he beat Minnesota's Kevin Steinhaus 4-2.

The Gophers had five All-Americans led by Mike Thorn's third place finish at 141 pounds; Zach Sanders fifth place at 125; Kevin Steinhaus' eighth place at 184; Sonny Yohn's seventh at 197 and Tony Nelson's seventh at heavyweight

The U finished seventh in the team standings and UW was 10th. Penn State coached by four-time collegiate champion Cael Sanderson, won its first national title in 58 years with 107.5 points followed by Cornell with 93.5 ponts, Iowa 86.5 and Oklahoma State 70.5 points.

149 - Kyle Dake (Cornell) dec. Frank Molinaro (Penn State) 8-1

157 - Bubba Jenkins (Arizona State) pinned David Taylor (Penn State) in 4:14

165 - Jordan Burroughs (Nebraska) major decisioned Tyler Caldwell (Oklahoma) 11-3

174 - Jonathan Reader (Iowa State) dec. Nick Amuchastegui (Stanford) 10-3

184 - Quentin Wright (Penn State) decisioned Robert Hamlin (Lehigh) 5-2

197 - Dustin Kilgore (Kent State) pinned Clayton Foster (Oklahoma State) in 4:56

285 - Zach Rey (Lehigh) decisioned Ryan Flores (American U) 2-1
