UW women's hockey wins NCAA title

-- The University of Wisconsin has won its fourth national women’s hockey title in six years, with a 4-1 victory yesterday over Boston University.

ERIE, Penn. - The University of Wisconsin has won its fourth national women’s hockey title in six years, with a 4-1 victory yesterday over Boston University.

Carolyne Prevost scored twice in the title game of the NCAA Frozen Four. Brooke Ammerman and Mallory Deluce also scored for the Badgers, as they won their 14th straight game and extended their unbeaten streak to 27. Wisconsin held Boston-“U” to 16 shots on goal – 15 fewer than the Terriers had in their semi-final win over Cornell on Friday night.

Wisconsin ended its season at 37-2-2, as the WCHA kept its strong-hold on the title. The conference has now won all 11 championships in the tournament’s history. Marie Philip-Poulin scored for Boston University, which ended its season at 27-7-4.
