EAU CLAIRE - UW-Eau Claire men’s basketball coach Terry Gibbons announced his retirement yesterday. He’s been on the Blugold staff for 22 years, and the head coach for the last 16.
Gibbons has the third-best winning percentage in school history at 235-185. And he led Eau Claire to a national runner-up finish in the NCAA’s Division-Three in 2000. Gibbons will keep his teaching duties, and will become a special assistant under Eau Claire Athletic Director Scott Kilgallon.
The school has only had three men’s basketball coaches in the last 84 years, including the legendary Ken Anderson.
