Letter: America’s governed by ghouls without souls

TO THE EDITOR: The Democratic Party, too much an instrument of corporate policy, albeit less obviously so than the troglodytic Republicans (including the Kochian lickspittle Walker, and our own shill for corporate predators, Sheila Harsdorf), has finally had an opportunity to make a difference in state and national politics.
Thousands of angry people turn up in Madison to decry the Koch brothers and their cancerous influences in our state. National media pays good attention…lots of attention. So…a perfect political storm for Mr. Obama, the liberal darling a few years back, to give new vigor to his tired old party and his own hapless lack of an agenda?
Does he seize the moment? Does he even address the moment? Not a bit. Why? Because like Walker and Harsdorf, he is in thrall to the corporations that elected him.
Obama, as with almost everyone in Washington D.C., is actually a golem: a creature created in the form of a human being, but lacking a soul. Yes, America, we are governed by ghouls, men and women who if they ever had a soul, sold it long ago to corporate monsters like the Koch Brothers.
I did not vote for the black man without a soul, nor for his loony opponents, Palin and McCain. I did however vote for Cynthia McKinney, the Green Party presidential candidate, a former Congresswoman and implacable enemy of the lies and chicanery that animate American political life. McKinney, along with Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst and long-term critic of America’s most powerful lobby, the pro-Israeli/Zionist faction that dominates U.S. policy in the Middle East, will be guest speakers at my farm on July 9, the annual Veterans for Peace gathering. See www.peacestock.org.
Come meet some folks with integrity, and soul. Real people, real patriots.
