MADISON - It looks like UW-Green Bay women’s basketball coach Matt Bollant will stay where he is, as UW-Madison will apparently hire an assistant from Stanford as its new coach.

The Badgers have announced a four o’clock news conference this afternoon to introduce the new leader. And the Green Bay Press-Gazette says it appears to be Stanford assistant coach Bobbie Kelsey. The paper’s Web site said Kelsey was interviewed late last week. She’s expected to replace Lisa Stone, whom the Badgers fired last month after eight seasons with the team. The Wisconsin State Journal said Bollant was apparently one of the two leading candidates to replace Stone. But now, it looks as if Bollant will plan for a fifth season at UW-Green Bay, where he’s 117-16 with four Horizon League championships and a Sweet-16 appearance in last month’s NCAA Tournament.

Bollant will have the challenge of replacing the league’s co-players-of-the-year – seniors Kayla Tetschlag and Celeste Hoewisch.
