PRESCOTT - Back-to-back wins over Osceola and Baldwin-Woodville, coupled with Somerset upset loss to Amery last week has Prescott in first place in the Middle Border Conference.
The Cardinals are tied with Somerset, both with 4-1 records. Prescott has a three-game winning streak going into this week.
The streak started early last week at Osceola. The Cardinals came back from an early 2-0 deficit by scoring five unanswered runs. PHS had 10 hits in the game led by Logan Johnson’s three. He had a double and an RBI. Teammate Billy Brookshaw had two RBIs and Aric Sandvig hit a double and drove in a run also. Winning pitcher Tyler Kieper threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Prescott won their next game 9-1 at Baldwin-Woodville. PHS had seven hits but were aided by 10 Blackhawk fielding errors. Bryan early had three hits and an RBI and Derrick Munsen drove in three runs with his RBI-triple. in the seventh where the Cards plated six runs with two outs to break open a 3-1 contest. Prescott pitcher Mike Lytle struck out seven and held B-W to just two hits to get the win.
Prescott hosts Durand on Tuesday.
