Minnesota Sports-- The Vikings continue to prepare for the NFL Draft, which begins with the first round tomorrow night. Team vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman says the front office has targeted several players who they would choose at the No. 12 slot in the first round.

He says if any of those players are still available, they would use the pick. Otherwise, he says there's a chance the team could attempt a trade to move down in the pecking order. He says at least four other teams have contacted the Vikings about a possible draft night trade. Head coach Leslie Frazier says the team has several areas of need to address in the draft. As of now, the team has nine selections over the three-day draft.

As for pro football players returning to work, can you say "awkward?" The Minnesota Vikings and other NFL teams are free to visit locker rooms and other team facilities but can't work out or conduct football business. After the arrival of one Vikings player at Winter Park on Tuesday, Vikings coach Leslie Frazier told reporters they are still in "lockout mode." Linebacker Erin Henderson entered the facility in Eden Prairie but then left less than an hour later. The apparent freeze-out comes after St. Paul Judge Susan Richard Nelson ruled in favor of the players against the league's six-week lockout.

Former Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress has found work for now. He has agreed to be a draft analyst for CBS-Sports.com coverage starting Thursday night. Childress will work with anchor Jason Horowitz and former players Dan Fouts and Randy Cross. The Vikings have the 12th overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday night.

Rep. Joyce Peppin announced yesterday that the state House of Representatives panel where the Vikings stadium legislation is to be heard would delay a hearing this week. Rep. Peppin added that she was not sure when the bill would be heard. The plan to provide public subsidies for a new stadium would likely have to go before a separate committee to be heard after the deadline. The Legislature's adjournment is scheduled in 28 days.
