Raiders get first D-SC win, top Elk Mound 4-2

Elmwood High School's softball team notched its first Dunn-St. Croix Conference win of the season Thursday in a 4-2 win over Elk Mound.

ELMWOOD - Elmwood High School's softball team notched its first Dunn-St. Croix Conference win of the season Thursday in a 4-2 win over Elk Mound.

The Mounders were hurt by three costly errors. The Raiders broke a 2-2 first inning tie by plating runs in the second and fourth innings.

McKayla Brunner was the winning pitcher as she struck out four in a four-hit performance. Amanda Brunner knocked out two hits as did Krista Peterson, who also hit a double.

Elmwood improves to 2-4 overall and a 1-4 in the league. The Raiders host rival Spring Valley-Plum City Friday afternoon starting at 5 p.m.
