HAGER CITY - The Ellsworth High School baseball team won its second straight ballgame, downing Highway 10 rival Durand 6-2 Monday.

Panther pitcher Travis Kroll not only got the win but also went a full seven innings, important in helping Ellsworth's pressed pitching situation. These frees up the Panthers to use pitchers like James Georgakas and Brady Schroeder in key Middle Border Conference games this week such as Tuesday at Amery and Friday at home again vs. Somerset.

"That was big that we could get seven out of him," Ellsworth coach Steve Block said.

Kroll struck out six of the first seven batters he faced and finished with nine strikeouts. The junior allowed two earned runs on seven hits and walked one batter.

Caleb Dressen hit the ball hard all game for Ellsworth and connected for a solo home run in the fifth inning. Dressen, a senior, scored twice.

Ellsworth improved to 4-5 overall and 4-4 in the MBC
