OSCEOLA - Coming off a win over Durand-Mondovi, Ellsworth High School's boys' tennis team was unable to make it two in a row as they lost to Osceola Thursday 5-2.
A shorthanded Ellsworth squad lost Thursday in a Middle Border Conference dual at Osceola. The Panthers were without Garrett Burgess and Dhia Ben Amara.
"(With the) full lineup we would have had an opportunity to win this meet," Ellsworth head coach Casey Keller said. "Also, this is a team we can beat in (the) conference (tournament) so we're looking forward to that."
The Panthers received hard-fought wins from the No. 1 doubles team of Adam Lee and Benji Mittermaier and No. 1 singles player Frank Mambelli. Ellsworth won the No. 1 doubles match 7-5, 7-5 while Mambelli prevailed 7-6 (6), 5-7, 7-6 (4).
"He did a good job of thinking through his match and his opponent and (doing) what he needed to do to win," Keller said of Mambelli.
Ellsworth (1-6 overall and Middle Border Conference) travels Tuesday to Altoona.
