SAN DIEGO - Yovani Gallardo will go for his third straight quality start tonight, when the Milwaukee Brewers open a two-game series at San Diego.
The right-handed Gallardo is 4-2 with a 4.88 ERA. He’s coming off back-to-back victories for the first time this season, giving up two runs on five hits in his last 14 innings. The Padres will send right-hander Dustin Moseley to the hill. He’s 1-5 with a 3.40 ERA. Moseley got tagged for six runs in a season-low four innings last Friday night at Colorado. It raised his road ERA from point-68 to two-point-three-five. Milwaukee has not had much success at Petco Park, losing 15-of-their-last-21 games there. And the Brewer offense is sputtering again, after splitting two games at Los Angeles the last two nights. The Brewers only scored two runs in that series – and they went 2-for-23 with runners in scoring position.

The Chicago Cubs will play at Florida tonight. The Cubs have lost six-of-their-last-eight, and they’re a season-low six games below .500. The Marlins are a half-game out of first place in the National League East at 24-16. Ricky Nolasco, who’s 3-and-0, will face Cubs’ veteran Ryan Dempster.

The Minnesota Twins will go for a two-game winning streak tonight at Oakland. The Twins snapped a nine-game losing streak, their worst in 13 years, after topping Seattle by one last night. Carl Pavano will go for his 100th career victory for Minnesota against Oakland’s Brandon McCarthy.

The Chicago White Sox will host Cleveland tonight. The Sox are coming off a two-game split against Texas, while the Indians have won three straight. Jake Peavy will start for the White Sox against the Indians’ Justin Masterson. Also playing tonight in the AL Central, the Detroit Tigers will open a two-game series against Boston. The Tigers were rained out at home against Toronto last night. Phil Coke will start against Boston’s Clay Buchholz.
