LA CROSSE - UW-LaCrosse officials announced Friday the school will host the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.

Kim Bloum, UWL’s associate athletic director, played a key role in luring the national track meet, as well as the 2011 and 2012 Division III national wrestling meets for LaCrosse. Track and field is the biggest hosted national event in Division III sports, with more than 800 athletes involved. And the economic impact is expected to be even higher than the two-wrestling tournament in March. Area businesses were given a $600,000 boost from the event.
