Ellsworth and Prescott's prep softball teams were winners Monday in Middle Border Conference make-up games.
Elsworth exploded for nine first-inning runs and won 10-4 over Amery Monday at home.
"We hit the snot out of the ball, then we just kind of relaxed I guess and (stopped) hitting the snot out of the ball," Panthers coach Ryan Casper said to the Red Wing Republican-Eagle.
Allison Freier pitched the first three innings. She struck out three, walked four and allowed three unearned runs.
Kayla Christopherson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.
Ellsworth and Amery will meet again on Thursday in opening-round play of the regional tournament. The win also snapped a four-game losing streak for the Panthers.
Meanwhile down Highway 10 in Prescott, the Cardinals also built up a big lead and held onto it against Durand. Alyssa Krings hit a home run and bases clearing double to help put PHS up 10-1 after two innings, on their way to a 17-9 win, their sixth in a row.
Prescott had 23 hits in the contest led by Paige Durham's five. Three other players had three hits. Shelby Anderson led the Cards' with three runs and Krings finished with four RBIs.
Ellsworth has one more league make-up to play, Tuesday at Osceola. Prescott will also travel north for a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at Cumberland.
