Ellsworth, Prescott track teams send qualifiers to sectionals
There will be a good bevy of individual qualifiers and relays teams from both Ellsworth and Prescott competing in Thursday's WIAA Division 2 Colby Sectional after Monday's regional meet in Somerset.
SOMERSET - There will be a good bevy of individual qualifiers and relays teams from both Ellsworth and Prescott competing in Thursday's WIAA Division 2 Colby Sectional after Monday's regional meet in Somerset.
Prescott's girls will have four individual event qualifiers plus two relays and the Ellsworth will send six qualifiers plus two relays as well.
Ellsworth's girls will be bringing some regional champions with them, including Lydia Kuhl, winner of the 100 and 300-meter hurdle events plus Abbey Ristow, regional champ in the discus. Prescott's regional winners were Victoria Simones in the mile run and the Cardinals' 3200-meter relay team.
The Ellsworth boys won't have any relay teams at the sectional meet but they will have nine individual qualifiers led by Alex Campbell, the regional champ in both the high jump and triple jump. Prescott will take five individual event qualifiers and three relays, including their regional champion 1600-meter relay and Matt Pechacek, winner of the 800-meter title.
The Ellsworth boys were third in the meet and the girls fourth out of nine teams. Prescott's boys were fourth and the girls' sixth.
