Busy day of WIAA spring sports postseason action
This afternoon will be busy with WIAA postseason action in several sports involving Pierce County schools.
This afternoon will be busy with WIAA postseason action in several sports involving Pierce County schools.
In track and field, athletes from Ellsworth and Prescott will compete in the Division 2 Colby Sectional and athletes from the Elmwood-Plum City co-op and Spring Valley will compete in the Division 3 Colfax Sectional. Click on links below for the pre-sectional heat sheets for both meets. The top four qualifiers will compete in the state meet next weekend in La Crosse.
In baseball, Plum City heads to Pepin for its Division 4 regional, first round game. The first pitch is at 5 p.m. Ellsworth plays tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Hager City against Baldwin-Woodville in a Division 2 first round contest while Spring Valley hosts Colfax in Division 3 starting at 4 p.m. Elmwood too will be in action Friday hosting New Auburn in Division 4.
Prescott has a first round bye but is keeping itself busy today with a 5 p.m. non-conference game vs. Hudson at Firehall Field in Prescott.
There's first round, regional action in prep softball as well. In Division 2, Ellsworth hosts Amery starting at 4:30 p.m.; in Division 3 Spring Valley-Plum City plays at Colfax at 5 p.m. while Elmwood hosts Augusta in Division 4.
