EHS softball downs Amery, heads to semis

Ellsworth advanced to the regional semifinals in softball by beating Amery 7-1 Thursday in Ellsworth.
The Panthers held Amery to only three hits. Halle Hatch got the win for Ellsworth, striking out three and walking two.
"Halle pitched a great game," Ellsworth coach Ryan Casper said.
Becca Chollett led the Panthers offensively, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a run and an RBI. Morgan Christopherson went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
"We hit the ball well," Casper said.
With the win, Ellsworth improved to 13-6 on the year and will play host to No. 3 Osceola on Tuesday in the second round of the Division 2 regionals.
