The Expos came into Sunday’s doubleheader off a 3-2 extra innings win over Plum City Saturday afternoon while Prescott was beaten 10-3 at home by Menomonie, also Saturday afternoon.

The Expos came into Sunday’s doubleheader off a 3-2 extra innings win over Plum City Saturday afternoon while Prescott was beaten 10-3 at home by Menomonie, also Saturday afternoon.
Jim French’s three-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 2-2 tie in favor of the Pirates in Game 1. Luke Huebner pitched six innings giving up two runs and Dillon Powell saved the game with three shutout innings. Nick Johnson finished with four hits for Prescott while Elmwood’s Jonah Lansing and Michael Blizel each had RBI's. and Eric Konsela and Ryan Speltz both had hits.
In Game 2, Prescott took a 9-5 lead into the eighth inning when Elmwood rallied for three runs to come within a run. But Powell closed the door in the ninth to pick up his second save of the day. Chris Terrazas hit a two-run HR and Nick Johnson had three hits to pace the Pirates’ offense. For the Expos Brett Keys had two hits, Jason Geurkink hit a triple, Speltz nailed a three-RBI, off-the-wall, double; Catcher Chris Geurink went 2-for-4 and reached base four times; Royce Baier hit a double and a sacrifice bunt and Dylan DeMotts, entering the game as a defensive replacement in left field, also hit a double.
Elmwood and Plum City dueled each other, or rather their pitchers did for much of the ballgame at Legion Park. PC’s Tony Garner struck out 16 batters and DeMotts fanned 12. Solo homers in the game came off the bats of Blizel for Elmwood and Chris Biederman for the Blues in their teams' half of the ninth. Baier led off the 10th with a walk and would later score the winning run off of Lansing RBI-single. Speltz was the only other Expo to manage two hits off of Garner while the Blues only managed five hits altogether with Cory Breidung hitting a single and double.
River Falls won at Bay City Sunday 11-9. The Fighting Fish outscored the Bombers 6-0 innings to overcome a 6-5 deficit. BC plated three in the eighth but were unable to draw closer. Jordan Eggenberger and Dan Roschen each had four hits for the Bombers and Brock Strain had two hits. Roschen drive in four runs with Roschen and Bump Ulvenes each hitting doubles. Joe Paatalo had four hits and two RBIs to lead River Falls with Brian Giebel getting two hits, including a triple, and scoring three runs. Clint Kempf had three hits for the Fish.
In other SCVL action last weekend, Ellsworth won its home opener Friday over the Bombers 11-1 but lost at Hudson Sunday 8-4 and Menomonie blanked Hager City Friday 12-0 at Menomonie.
