MADISON - University of Wisconsin football lineman Gabe Carimi and swimmer Maggie Meyer have been given the Big Ten’s Medal-of-Honor.
The awards are given to male-and-female graduates who’ve excelled both in their sports and in their classes. Carimi received the Outland Trophy as the nation’s top interior lineman – and he’s a four-time All-Conference Academic selection. He graduated last month with a degree in civil-and-environmental engineering. Meyer was the first Badger to win an NCAA women’s swimming title, the 200-yard backstroke. She received 11 All-American swimming honors during her career. And she made the all-conference academic squad this year with a three-point-four-six grade point average in English and religious studies.
