Liriano flirts with a no-no again

Minnesota Sports
-- Francisco Liriano nearly tossed his second no-hitter of the season in Minnesota's 6-1 win over the Texas Rangers.

Francisco Liriano nearly tossed his second no-hitter of the season in Minnesota's 6-1 win over the Texas Rangers. Liriano took a perfect game into the seventh inning when Minnesota third baseman Luke Hughes committed an error at third base to spoil the perfect game bid. The no-hit bid was still alive to start the eighth inning when Texas' Adrian Beltre rapped a solid single to center field. The hit came after a 30-minute bottom of the seventh in which the Twins scored five runs through two pitching changes. Liriano struck out nine over eight innings of one-run ball to improve to 4-and-6. Michael Cuddyer blasted a three-run homer for the Twins, who have won nine of their last 11 games. The Twins begin a three-game series with the White Sox on Tuesday at Target Field.
