Eau Claire North wins state D-1 baseball title
Eau Claire North won its first state high school Division-One baseball title last night.
GRAND CHUTE - Eau Claire North won its first state high school Division-One baseball title last night.
North scored six runs in the third inning, on the way to an 11-1 six-inning rout of Neenah at Fox Cities’ Stadium near Appleton.
The Division-Two championship game was also a six-inning rout, as Ripon crushed Spooner 12-2. Jordan Jess and Ben Wetzel hit back-to-back homers for Ripon.
In Division-Three, Winnebago Lutheran won its first state title with a 10-6 victory over Pardeeville. Mavric Otterstatter drove in four runs and went 2-for-4 for Lutheran.
And Burlington Catholic Central won its second straight Division-Four crown and its fifth-in-eight-years, with a 9-2 win over Chippewa Falls McDonell. T.J. Floyd got the win in the title game for the second year in a row. He tossed a seven-hitter with seven strikeouts.
