Rubio arrives in Minnesota

-- Ricky Rubio arrived in Minnesota and told the Timberwolves team website that he is excited to be here and looking forward to playing in Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS - Ricky Rubio arrived in Minnesota and told the Timberwolves team website that he is excited to be here and looking forward to playing in Minnesota.

Rubio landed with his family yesterday to a slew of about 200 fans and media members at the airport. Rubio greeted fans and signed autographs while the team's president of basketball operations David Kahn led him through the masses.

The Spanish guard was originally draft by the T'wolves at age 18 in 2009. Rubio will be introduced this morning at the Target Center.

The Minnesota Timberwolves continue to prepare for the NBA draft by hosting a handful of prospects for a workout today. Minnesota holds the second and 20th overall selections in Thursday night's NBA Draft. They do not have a second round pick. Cleveland will start things off with the first overall choice.

Wayne Ellington and Anthony Tolliver headline this summer's Timberwolves Caravan. Wolves assistant J.B. Bickerstaff and team mascot "Crunch" are also be part of the tour. The traveling party will host a summer clinic and an autograph session at North Junior High School in St. Cloud at 9 a.m. today. The crew will move on to the Rochester YMCA tomorrow. There was a stop in Duluth yesterday.

The Toronto Raptors have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to hire Dallas Mavericks assistant Dwane Casey as their new head coach. A formal announcement is expected to be made before Thursday's NBA Draft in Newark. ESPN is reporting that Casey was already in New York on Monday observing the Raptors' private pre-draft workout of prospect Bismarck Biyombo. Casey was the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves from the start of the 2005 season through January of 2007.
