Pirates win two out of three at SPAM tourney in Austin
After losing their first game the Prescott Pirates won their next two ballgames at the famed Austin SPAM amateur baseball tournament last weekend.
AUSTIN, Minn. - After losing their first game the Prescott Pirates won their next two ballgames at the famed Austin SPAM amateur baseball tournament last weekend.
Prescott lost its first game to Minnetonka, Minn. 8-5. In the bottom of the sixth Minnetonka scored four runs after a few defensive miscues. Zack Watkins homered for the Pirates.
The Pirates played Chaska, Minn. Saturday and defeated them 6-1. Dillon Powell gave up five hits and one run to get the win The offense had 16 hits as Nick Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jared Powell and Brady Randolph all having multiple hits.
Prescott played Owatonna the same day and scored six runs in the top of the first to help winning pitcher Garret Choate. The Pirates' offense again scored early and often paced by Johnson's two home runs as the Pirates ten-runned Owatonna 11-1 in 6 innings. Choate threw all six innings giving up one run for his fourth consecutive victory.
Prescott plays at Hager City Wednesday. First pitch is at 7:30 p.m.
