Marshfield door-maker sold to Florida company
Wisconsin Business-- A commercial door-maker in Marshfield is being sold to a Florida firm. Masonite Incorporated of Tampa is buying Marshfield Door Systems, pending government approvals.
MARSHFIELD - A commercial door-maker in Marshfield is being sold to a Florida firm. Masonite Incorporated of Tampa is buying Marshfield Door Systems, pending government approvals.
The purchase price and other financial details were not disclosed. The Marshfield plant is involved in the deal, along with smaller operations in Largo, Florida and Greensboro, North Carolina. Together, they employ around 600 people. There was no word on what might happen with the current workforce. Marshfield CEO Don Bergman will stay on.
Marshfield Door Systems was founded in 1890 as the Roddis Lumber Company. The plant started making doors in 1908. Weyerhaeuser bought the facility in 1960. Local investors in Marshfield bought the plant around 2000, after they joined forces with Wind Point Partners of Chicago to make the purchase.
