MINNEAPOLIS - Francisco Liriano came back from a two-hour rain delay to give up a home run to Carlos Gomez, but he stopped Milwaukee hitters cold after that. Liriano pitched seven strong innings to lead Minnesota to a 6-2 interleague victory Friday.

Jim Thome's three-run home run was the big blow of the game and the 594th roundtripper of his long career.

The fourth straight loss for the Brewers knocked them out of a first-place tie with St. Louis in the National League Central Division. The Twins reached Brewer ace Yovani Gallardo for five runs in seven innings. His record falls to 9-5.

Ryan Braun gave the Brewers hope when he singled in Rickie Weeks in the third inning to pull Milwaukee within a run at 3-2. That extended Braun's hitting streak to 21 straight games.
