MINNEAPOLIS - Milwaukee native Terry Porter was said to be the first candidate interviewed for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ coaching vacancy. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune said Porter was among those in line to replace Kurt Rambis, who was let go earlier this month.
Porter was the Milwaukee Bucks’ head coach for two seasons ending in 2005, when he went 71-93. He later coached the Phoenix Suns. And last year, he was a sideline reporter for the Portland Trail Blazers – where he starred for most of his 17-year NBA playing career.
Reports also say former Bucks’ coach Don Nelson is interested in the Minnesota job. The 71-year-old Nelson has coached Dallas, Golden State, and the New York Knicks as well as Milwaukee. He’s the league’s all-time winningest coach with 1,335 regular season victories.
