PHOENIX -- Minnesota will be in Phoenix today for a crucial early season battle for Western Conference supremacy. The Lynx sit a-half game back of the Mercury, tied with San Antonio at 9-4 on the season.

Minnesota has won four-of-five, including two straight, with the only loss in that stretch coming to Phoenix one week ago at home. The Lynx will return to action after this weekend's All-Star break when they host the Sparks on July 26th.

Minnesota Lynx players Lindsay Whalen, Rebekkah Brunson, and Seimone Augustus have been named to the WNBA All-Star roster for this weekend's game against the U.S. Women's National Team. Whalen is a Hutchinson native and former Golden Gopher. The game is titled "WNBA vs. USA Basketball: Stars at the Sun" and will be played at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Lynx rookie Maya Moore has already been named a starter for the game, which has a new format. The new concept gives the women's national team a chance to play together in advance of the 2011 World Championship, which will take place from September 23rd through October 3rd in the Czech Republic. University of Connecticut head coach Geno Auriemma will guide the U.S. team through the 2012 Olympics and will be on the bench for the American women at the All-Star Game. Serving as head coach of the WNBA stars will be Brian Agler of the Seattle Storm.

Minnesota Lynx star rookie Maya Moore has the top-selling jersey in the WNBA, according to sales on the WNBA's team store website. Moore entered the league in April, but already the webpage has sold more Moore jerseys than any other player in 2011. Moore takes over the top spot from Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks, who has had the No. 1 selling jersey since October 2008. In fact, the Lynx has sold the most merchandise in the league since the addition of Moore, who was the top overall pick in this spring's WNBA draft. The 9-4 Lynx are at Phoenix tomorrow for an afternoon game.
