MADISON - University of Wisconsin guard Jordan Taylor is having surgery on his ankle. Taylor is expected to be ready to go when the Badgers start practice in October, though he could miss some conditioning before his senior season.
Taylor was a second-team All-American pick last year, averaging 18 points per game. He was scheduled to participate in the 2011 USA Basketball Men's World University Game training camp next week, but the surgery has forced him to take a pass. The surgery on his right ankle reportedly was not connected to any injury.
Packers' defensive back Brandon Underwood pleaded innocent yesterday to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge stemming from an alleged attack on his wife. The 25-year-old Underwood appeared without a lawyer. He said Elkhart Lake attorney Barry Cohen is now representing him -- but he couldn't be at that day's proceeding because he had other commitments in Madison. A Brown County court commissioner scheduled a hearing on pre-trial requests for September 13th, and a trial date of September 26th was set. Underwood is accused of ripping a necklace from his wife Brandie in their driveway on June 16th. The Packers gave her the necklace when they presented the Super Bowl championship rings to the players. Prosecutors said her husband also pulled out of the vehicle and threw her to the ground. But Brandie Underwood has said the incident was not nearly as bad as it's been reported -- and her husband did not hurt her that night. Underwood was earlier convicted in a Lake Delton case a year ago, in which two women accused him of molesting them while he was in the area for a charity golf event.
