MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers ended a two-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs last night at Miller Park.

Both teams scored all their runs in the first-inning. Aramis Ramirez belted a two-run homer for Chicago. Ryan Braun put Milwaukee on the board with an RBI double in the bottom of the first. And Casey McGehee later hit the eventual game-winner, a two-run triple.

Chris Narveson got the win, giving up eight hits in five-plus innings with his two runs. He’s now 7-6. John Axford left the tying run on second base, but he tied a Brewers’ record with his 25th straight save. He has 28 in all. Ryan Dempster ended a six-game winning streak against the Brewers. He went six innings while giving up three runs on seven hits. He’s now 7-8. Chicago out-hit the Brewers 10-8, but the Cubs still failed to get the first four-game winning streak of the year.

Milwaukee moved into second place in the National League Central, still a half-game behind Saint Louis. Pittsburgh dropped to third after losing to Atlanta 4-3 in 19 innings last night.

Brewers’ reliever Mitch Stetter is expected to have season-ending surgery to fix a labral tear in his left hip. The left-hander said he would get a second opinion tomorrow from a doctor in Chicago. Stetter has been on the disabled list since May 17th. He started a rehab assignment earlier this month with the Brewers’ rookie team in Arizona, and he pitched in a couple games for Triple-“A” Nashville last week. But the 30-year-old Stetter said he did not feel comfortable in those appearances – so he returned to Milwaukee late last week to get checked out. Stetter says he’s most worried about getting arthritis in the hip if he doesn’t get the problem corrected. Stetter has pitched seven innings in 16 relief appearances for the Brewers this season. He has a 5.14 ERA, and has held opponents to a .296 batting average. Milwaukee currently does not have a left-hander in its bullpen.
