Afternoon State Sports Briefs: Borland ready to make impact for Badgers

MADISON - Linebacker Chris Borland is back with the football Badgers this
season, and is ready to make an impact after an injury sidelined him
last year.
Coach Bret Bielema says he likes Borland's physical
aggressiveness, but he wants his linebacker to play "on his feet" more
this season, instead of flying through the air to make tackles.
Bielema says Borland will never play "calmly," but he's aware of what
he needs to do to stay healthy.

Another former Badgers player is headed to Germany to play pro
basketball. Forward Tim Jarmusz has signed a team with the Gotha
Rockets. He played 34 games for the Badgers last year, and started 21
of them. He joins Jon Leuer and Keaton Nankivil in going to Europe to
play basketball in a German pro league.

The Green Bay Gamblers have named former Denver University assistant
hockey coach Derek Lalonde as their new head coach and
general manager. Lalonde says he's been "itching" for a head coaching
job, and the timing to take the job in Green Bay is perfect.
