Ponder says Vikings QBs get along well
Minnesota Sports-- Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Christian Ponder says he's been a little surprised at how well each of the team's quarterbacks get along and help each other.
MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Christian Ponder says he's been a little surprised at how well each of the team's quarterbacks get along and help each other.
Ponder told reporters Tuesday that veteran Donovan McNabb has been extremely helpful in getting Ponder comfortable with an NFL training camp. Ponder says Joe Webb has been a big help, too. He says all three are friendly and he believes the competition has helped make them all a little better. McNabb is taking most of the practice snaps with the No. 1 offense, while Ponder and Webb have been alternating with the team's reserve players. Ponder was the Vikings first round draft choice out of Florida State.

While prospects for a new Minnesota Vikings stadium remain up in the air, the situation is different in a city that some speculate the team could end up moving to. The Los Angeles City Council has unanimously approved a non-binding agreement with AEG to build a billion-dollar NFL stadium called Farmer's Field in downtown LA. Vikings executives have said they plan to keep the team in Minnesota but need a new stadium. Some speculate if they don't get it, the Wilfs could sell and the Vikings would move elsewhere.

Minnesota Vikings safety Hussain Abdullah is dined at the White House last night. Abdullah and his brother, Hamza, a safety for the Arizona Cardinals, were invited by President Obama for a dinner to mark the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Observant Muslims do not eat or drink during the day over the course of Ramadan, which happens to fall during the NFL training camp.

The Vikings waived rookie defensive back Marcel Gipson Tuesday. The defensive back out of Wyoming had missed much of training camp because of his grandmother's death. Gipson requested the release so he could spend more time with his family. Head coach Leslie Frazier says the team could bring Gipson back if the defensive back wants to play again.
