CLEVELAND - The NFL lockout makes things tough on players like undrafted free agents. Winning a spot on the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers roster is a long shot and most of them acknowledge it. Tonight's game at Cleveland is one of their few chances -- if they get onto the field.

It's the first football action for the team sitting on top of the NFL world. Time is growing short for the players sitting at the end of the bench. The 90-man roster is cut to 75 in a little over two weeks.

When the Packers open their preseason against Cleveland Saturday, there could be a lot of new faces on the defensive side of the ball. Several expected starters sat out of practice Thursday. Both starting cornerbacks, Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams, were among the players to stay on the sidelines.

Green Bay Packers player Desmond Bishop didn't meet with President Obama Friday in Washington. The rest of the team was at the White House to be honored for the Super Bowl championship last winter. But Bishop posted online that he won't be meeting the president because he accidentally left his ID on the airplane. He says it will just give him more motivation to win another title.

When former Packers running back Ahman Green took a job as a sideline analyst with the Big Ten Network, it sent a pretty clear signal about his playing career. Now, he's made it official. Green announced his retirement from football at Lambeau Field. He is the leading rusher in the history of the Packers, with more than 8,300 rushing yards. He racked up that yardage on more than 18-hundred carries. That's also a team record, which he set over eight seasons with the team.
