SPOONER - The DNR is investigating a weekend boating mishap on a lake in northwest Wisconsin that killed a man from the Twin Cities area.
Washburn County authorities said 42-year-old Timothy Anderson of Inver Grove Heights Minnesota was in a small boat on Dilly Lake on Saturday night when he stood up, slipped, and fell in the water. A woman also fell out, and officials said the boat capsized. The two tried swimming to shore.
A couple on pontoon boat pulled Anderson and the woman from the lake – and CPR was given at a boat landing. Anderson then went to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Sheriff’s deputies said there were life jackets on board, but neither person was wearing them at the time.
