GRAND FORKS - A top college running back from western Wisconsin is transferring from the University of North Dakota. Josh Murray from Pepin was dropped from North Dakota’s program for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

He has one year of eligibility remaining. And the Bismarck Tribune says he’ll use it this fall at the Division-Two University of Mary in Bismarck.

Murray was North Dakota’s best rusher last season, running for 670 yards and four touchdowns after being academically ineligible during his sophomore year. As a freshman, Murray led North Dakota with 1,146 yards on the grounds and 12 touchdowns.

Murray is Pepin High School's all-time leading rusher and was one of the top players in western Wisconsin during his time in high school.
