AMERY - It might not have been the most exciting game to watch for the fans, but Ellsworth coach Clair Austin said his team will still be happy to come away with the win.

“It was a defensive battle,” Austin said. “The game was back-and-forth in the middle of the field.”

The game’s lone touchdown came from Ellsworth’s Jacob Betthauser on a 4-yard run at the 2:13 mark in the first quarter. Pascal Kummer added the extra-point kick.

Ellsworth was 40-for-134 rushing which included a team-high 17-for-54 yard performance from Betthauser. The Panthers had no success with their passing game as they went 0-for-9 in the air.

Dan Langer led Ellsworth defensively with seven tackles and an interception, while Betthauser had eight tackles.

Ellsworth is now 1-0 in the Middle Border Conference and 2-1 overall. The Panthers play Somerset at home next week.
